On Thursday afternoon, the Chicago Blackhawks dealt restricted free agent forward Andrew Ladd to the Atlanta Thrashers for top prospects Ivan Vishnevskiy and a 2nd round draft pick.
This is the second trade between former Hawks’ front office employee and current Atlanta GM Rick Dudley and Stan Bowman; Dustin Byfuglien, Ben Eager and Brent Sopel will have more Chicago company this season.
Vishnevskiy, 22, was the second-ranked prospect in the Thrashers organization, and was acquired as part of the Kari Lehtonen trade from Dallas. He was the Stars’ first round draft choice (27th overall) in 2006, and is listed at 6’0 and 180 pounds. He is described as a “second pairing offensive defenseman and power play quarterback, similar to Lubomir Visnovsky.”
Last year, Vishnevskiy spent 28 games with the Chicago Wolves.
