Blackhawks Acquire David Toews

On Friday morning, the Chicago Blackhawks traded future considerations to the New York Islanders for David Toews.

Toews was a third round pick (66th overall) by the Islanders in the 2008 NHL Draft. He spent last year with Brandon of the WHL, where he scored 20 goals and added 28 assists in 60 regular season games before posting seven points in six playoff games.

A center, Toews turned 21 in June and is listed at 5’11 and 185 pounds. He is also the younger brother of Jonathan Toews. He will reportedly join the Hawks other top prospects in Oshawa this weekend.

  1. Not quite the Sedin sister’s but in a playoff series I’d take the Toews brothers (or just the elder) over the ginger bread men every time.

  2. I believe you can find the quote somewhere, but before the deal went through Scottie called David and said this is NOT something we are doing to make Jonathan happy.
