Before Friday night’s game against Montreal, coach Joel Quenneville offered a couple of injury updates on players Hawks fans have missed on the ice for some time.
Captain Jonathan Toews is reportedly progressing, and Quenneville hopes to have him back as soon as the Hawks next game, which is next Thursday, November 5th in Phoenix. He’s been out since October 21, then he took a nasty (but legal) hit from Vancouver’s Willie Mitchell in the Hawks 3-2 loss. Toews has been suffering from a concussion, and didn’t travel with the team to Nashville on Thursday.
The other injury update was good news regarding another Blackhawks player dealing with a concussion. Ben Eager, who was placed on injured reserve on October 8th, has missed ten games. Eager skated with the team for the first time in weeks on Friday, and is showing signs of a return hopefully some time in November.
