Reports originating with XM Home Ice on Twitter indicate that the Blackhawks have lost forward Bryan Bickell for roughly three weeks after he required surgery to repair two tendons in his wrist.
This news comes as a blow to a team that was rolling, and the best line for the Hawks in Game Six was Bickell with Michael Frolik and Dave Bolland.
Tomas Kopecky, who has been out most of the series, did travel with the team to Vancouver.
Here is the Blackhawks official statement (from 7:52 PM CT on Monday):
“Bryan Bickell underwent surgery today with our hand surgeon, Dr. Weidrich, to repair a tendon lacerated during Game 2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals. While the surgery was anticipated since the injury occurred, Bryan wanted to play as long as possible before time ran out to complete the procedure appropriately. We anticipate a full recovery in approximately six-to-eight weeks.”
