Blackhawks Make First Round of Roster Cuts

The Blackhawks announced on Tuesday afternoon their first roster cuts.

Rob Flick, Byron Froese, Mirko Hoefflin, Philippe Paradis and Kent Simpson were sent back to juniors, and goalie Joe Palmer was sent to Rockford of the AHL. Dallas Jackson and Boomer Steele were also released.

In Wednesday night’s game against the¬†Tampa Bay Lightning¬†(played in Winnepeg), the Hawks will start Marty Turco in net but Hannu Toivonen is expected to see action as well. The Hawks have not announced the full travel roster to the game yet, but both Igor Makarov and Jeremy Morin are expected to be with the team and see action.
