Blackhawks Prospects Heating Up WJC

The Blackhawks have a few prospects competing in the World Junior Championship right now, and the tournament is off to a fast start.

  • Sweden 6 – Denmark 1

Lucas Carlsson had one assist in 17:55 of ice time for Sweden.

  • Canada 5 – Slovakia 0
    Dec. 27

Radovan Bondra failed to register a point as Slovakia got blasted by Canada; the final shot totals favored the host country 39-6. Yes, six shots on goal in the entire game.

  • USA 5 – Slovakia 2
    Dec. 28

Bondra, wearing an A for Slovakia, was held without a point in 13:11 of ice time for the losers. Bondra is minus-four through two losses.

  • Sweden 4 – Switzerland 2
    Dec. 28

Carlsson scored Sweden’s fourth and final goal in another victory. Carlsson skated 15:49 as Sweden remained undefeated.

  • Denmark 3 – Czech 2
    Dec. 29

Mathias From scored a pretty game-winning goal in overtime to win the game for Denmark. It was From’s first appearance in the tournament in Denmark’s third game; he suffered an ankle injury before the tournament while training with the national team.

  • Sweden 3 – Finland 1
    Dec. 29

Carlsson was held without a point in 19:09 as Sweden officially won Group A.

With Sweden’s win over Finland, From and Denmark also advance into the quarterfinals.
