Blackhawks Re-Sign David Kampf

The Blackhawks announced Monday that the team has re-signed center David Kampf to a two-year contract with a $1M AAV.

Kampf, 24, won 53 percent of his faceoffs in 46 games as a rookie during the 2017-18 season with 11 points. He scored four goals with 15 assists in 63 games for the Hawks last year but won just 45.3 percent of his faceoffs. Kampf averaged 1:51 per game on the ice short-handed last season, which led Chicago forwards.

  1. @tab,
Does this mean Anisimov is certainly being moved? Looking full down the middle. Unless they are moving him to wing, he has to go. Right?

  2. Why move AA now?
Hawks have 1 year to evalute forwards to decide who needs to go to make cap space for Dcat and Strome signings.
AA is a solid 3rd line center, just slightly overpaid, no rush to get rid of him.
Bottom 6 depth is very important for wannabe contenders.

  3. He led Hawks’ forwards in PK time, wonderful. We all saw how they went. He’s a soft player. Little to no offensive touch as well.

The coach is obsessed w this guy, and it’s not warranted. There are enough better all around forwards that should make him expendable. Hagel, Johnson, Highmore all far better than him. Kusharev as well that’s a no brainer.

  4. Couldn’t agree more on Anisimov- IMO he has low hockey IQ, not a terrific passer -and has stone hands when in scoring opportunities… how do you play so soft and command $4M/year?
I’m with Ice- get the young guys up from Rockford & put them with some of the vets and let’s see how hungry they are to excel!!

  5. One things for sure Carp is going to be center for 4th line with being that good at faceoffs. 52.5 is really good, not 55 good but Way better then 50 or anything less. 50 is ok, 45 is is just not. 52.5 is nice and we have two good faceoffs guys again. Havnt had that since 15.

  6. You move AA because you don’t have a spot for him and he actually would have value to other teams

  7. Everyone wants to trade Anisimov. okay fine whatever

But what team has said, we need a bottom 6 center with a 4.55M cap hit? Yes his contract dollars are less. But i’ve not heard of one team looking for his services.

Stan needs to quit trading for people with 3 yrs left on there contracts. Debrincat and Strome still need money next year. Stan will be trading away assests again next offseason after having all this cap room.

Can’t extend him until one of his plans actually pans out.

  8. Kampf has value, play any line C in a pinch competently, can be bottom C or winger regularly.
Anisimov could be an asset or moved for a purpose see what the plan is.

  9. WTF on these signings especially the Aho offer sheet. What teams are paying is crazy. Tanev deal was silly money and am thankful we traded for Shaw. I could see a 4th line of AA, Kampf and Carpenter but would prefer AA gone for future use now or during the season. The challenge this year is our league just got better too.

  10. Bowman and crew really did good and what we really needed. Cannot overpay like teams are doing because their desperate. We planned ahead and sucked for two transitions yrs. Now we have two top 6 skill picks players coming and are set up to be deep again. Were not trying to fill the seats. Were loading the roster again so we can win another Cup.

Once enough of the young wave is ready and established were going to be really good. One of the top teams again. Teams can win now without being a top team, prob need to be 5-10 team, but can with top teams not as deep now. Every top team has to shed good players this draft summer. Looking better already.

  11. Lehner 1yr mil! Ouch, should have listen to me last year, could have gotten him for 3 or 4 years for 5mil.

  12. Smart move by Bowman. A+ goalie with a contract expiring before DCat and Strome need to be extended. Too bad they signed Shaw. Otherwise, Lehner’s term might have been two or three years.

  13. sure as hell hope that Shaw isn’t the big splash this off season! Don’t get me wrong I like Shaw but this team needs more than what we got so far. Two years out of the playoffs and we need more.

  14. Did not see the Lehner deal coming, that’s for sure. Based on what Stan has said there may be some trades coming as well. Interesting offseason!

  15. I can’t wait to see how these moves play out. So much redundancy at every position. According to capfriendly the Hawks have jsut over 1 Mil in cap space. With Perlini still unsigned they have a little over 1 mil in available cap space as of now. I am sure there will be more moves to come, but it seems odd how the Hawks filled their roster.

Call me perplexed but intrigued with how these moves are unfolding…

  16. Great signing! Lehner: 43 GA, .930 sv%. Lehner battled alcoholism and is bipolar. Won the Masterton Memorial Trophy this year. This explains why he didn’t get a big contract. Assuming his issues are well under control, the Hawks need a quality G like him for more years while hopefully someone in our system will be ready to start in a couple of years.

  17. Hopefully he can turn into Crawfords replacement after next season. May play the majority of games during season and save Crawford for playoffs, hoping 50 is ok.

  18. Delia going down makes room for Perlini, 8 d so swap one for a forward and move a 4m+ contract, Anisimov most likely to fill out roster, dman give a little more wiggle room though.

  19. If Maatta, De Haan, Shaw, and Lehner are healthy for most of the season, Blackhawks are heading to the playoffs. If they are healthy during the playoffs, Hawks may win at least one round. Be thankful for our lottery pick. May be a long time coming before we have another one.

Will need to part with a player/prospect to move AA. It needs to be done.

  20. I hope Perlini signs. He is young and can be a force withi his nsie and speed. Butr where is he going to find this money? Trade Murphy to the Jets or anyone abd get a 2nd round pikc back. Sign Perlini. Bring Boqvist up! Delia’s contract was an overhyped reaction once again by Bowman. He is an AHLer. I would gamble more o Lankinen.
Perlini needs to make that trade a win for Chicago because I would still pick Schmaltz over Strome any day!

  21. Schmaltz is soft, fragile, timid. Perlini is inconsistent. Delia will start the year in the AHL. Nobody said he’s the next Dryden and he’s paid as such.

  22. Hull65: size, Size, SIZE…is all that matters!! Bowman, Bowman, Bowman…..arrrgh!!!!!! And, would take Schmaltz over Strome!!!

    Good grief.

  23. Mox, yea I not sure what this means. I posted Shawzer name other day, then we got him. When people were putting names of players we could get, based on Bowmans medias. This is very interesting. Still might mean anything specifically but holy cow. Having Lehner for 1 yr as a tryout and Crow to see if hes is still healthy for full yrs.

Can keep Crow for 2m going forward, was what I was thinking. This gives us two options for that or just go with younger goalie for the longterm. Very interesting with this. Could also just be wanted to have two good goalies for this yr just incase Crow cant as a bullet proof goalie situation. So no matter what were good for the position, for this yr, and going forward if we go with Lehner.

Very interesting. I am also surprised not more people are talking about this here.

  24. Nothing agasint you Hull or Schmaltz as I routed for him to be like Leddy kind of player.

I like Strome a lot. Being that kind of friends with Bob Lee Swagger Cat from the days they were in juniors is meaningful.

  25. Not saying were not trading anyone but Bowman said we could be over the cap and not have to get to it until game 1. What ever we do I just want to keep adding good players and make it work and create a roster as good as we can now, in a smart way. Then as young wave comes in, Im laughing.
