  1. Probably a stretch that he plays with Bkackhawks next year. Agree with the year in Rockford and get a look.

  2. His Munich team won the top German league and I kept an eye on the box scores where his scoring numbers didn’t indicate he was a top player. So, we’ll see.

  3. ER– gotta disagree… He was in top 10 scoring Regular season (points per game)…

The Big Kahun-a… was in top 10 PO scoring
He was leading scorer in league– Players under 24 years old…

Kahun/Team has won couple championships (I believe I read)… so he is a winner!!!

Report is– great skater… Plays two way game… Great hands and vision…
makes others around him better… ( Maybe he can make Toews better-lol)…
a lot more assists- than goals…

Really– when I read the Eliteprospect’s report… makes me think of Most of the Forwards on the Vegas Knights (that teams- didn’t protect)…

Kid is a winner…. and cost Hawks NOTHING

    I like his chances

  4. Well Dobson’s team Acadie-Bathurst Titan are cruising through the QMJHL and should make the Memorial Cup. Last I checked he had 1G 8A +9 in 14 games so far

  5. Yeah he’s leading them Goldenbladz and with Detroit and Canucks picking 6th and 7th i’m guessing one of them take Wahlstrom as they need forwards and he will still be there at 8th.

  6. Yes Ian and if they did take Dobson they could probably sign Olivier Galipeau as well as I believe he is undrafted 20 year old D man similiar to the Highmore signing last year

  7. Like that idea 2 big physical, mobile offensive defensenen, one on either point who can play both ends. Galipeau sure making it look like a mistake nobody drafted him.

  8. Can never go wrong with another dman for the ahl team especially when it won’t cost anything more then a contract spot.
Part of me wonders though will they make a few trades of the young dmen to clear some spots.
Maybe I’m wrong but with Snuggerud Dahlstrom Norell Tuulola Gilbert Hillman all signed. Maybe even Forsling down to start the year along with Raddysh on an ahl deal for this year. That’s 8 dmen. 7 lefties amongst them.
Who knows what they do with the actual dmen of the hawks. But right now 13 dmen under contract not including any free agents, maybe a top 10 d prospect, Jokiharju? or Lucas carlsson if he comes over.
Should be a fun offseason. The playoffs have been very enjoyable to watch.

  9. Laughable, an undrafted 5’9″ german hockey player??? I mean, this Mark Kelley and Pierre Gauthier combination is embarassing! And Bowman once again is proving to have no vision and simply lazy. Focus on drafting players in the CHL not some German 23 year oild undrafted smurf!
Nothing has changed…I can imagine Kane and Toews reading news like this., wondering when is this nightmare scouting/free agent signing going to stop. Have they not learned anything?: If is someone like Panarin who was domainting the KHL, then maybe.

  10. Otherwise why? Graham Knott is a second round pick who played in the Memoriual Cup last year and is not being developed. Not in the lineup? But Pelletier a DIVIII smurf is? This is not the way to develop young players. We complain about Coach Q having a hard time with rookies, how can Bowman defend ROCKFORD?:

  11. If the choice when the Hawks pick at #8 were between Dobson or Bouchard who would you take – both are big and skilled.

I only going on the scouting reports I read but maybe Bouchard has a little more offensive upside along with his D zone smarts.

On the CBC broadcast I think they showed Dobson rated as 7th best prospect and Bouchard at #8. I’d be surprised if Bouchard is still there at 8 – most seem to have him higher than Dobson – as high as #6 in some mock drafts.

Whoever they select it they should be able to get a very good D prospect.

But if Brady Tzachuk falls to 8 I think you have to take him.

  12. Wraparound-I’d bet a lot of my own money that Brady not there-gone 3 to 5, my guess 3-

From TSN—–(they have Bouchard gone before 8)

“There was almost nothing separating Boqvist, Wahlstrom and Dobson in the spots between six and eight. They appear to virtually interchangeable, based on voting results.

And while there was a little bit of separation between those three and Hughes at No. 9, understand one thing about this year’s draft: Based on our survey, there is a huge drop off in consensus after No. 9.

  13. I think Ottawa takes Bouchard, OHL star that fans recognize and be Karlssons replacement. Tkachuk ends up in Arizona and be a good fit there.

Just wanted to say about Galipeau he was passed over in draft a couple of years ago because of lack of offense. He showed a good attitude and went out and worked at, improved his passing and skating, seems to be good in those areas. Found an offensive game and an NHL worthy shot 25g and 49 pts. this season. Was in conversation for defencemen of the year this year in Q league. Titans going all in for memorial cup picked him up at deadline for a number of draft picks in what was considered a major move to bolster blueline at boths ends of ice. But his strength to an NHL team could be as a physical shutdown defensive dman with some offensive ability. He is noted for his leadership abilities as he was captain of 2 teams in Q league, the first in his first season. Somebody will sign him and he will most likely require time to develop but a defensemen with good shutdown skillset and better attitude in your system could be more than just a contract in Rockford next year

  14. am I the only person who thinks each round of the draft should have it’s own lottery…perhaps with different odds in each round?

  15. Ian- 49 assists + 25 g’s for Olivier

I wouldn’t mind if Hawks went off the board and swung for– Kotkaniemi- Big , tall Finnish kid… played in Liiga… put up decent Numbers… His/age/numbers- look like he wail have a decent NHL career…

who knows- maybe SB- finds a team starving for the “D prospect” on the board at #8… and SB trades down- and gets Kotkaniemi + additional pick???

  16. Kotkaniemi- watched hi Liiga highlites…

Really impressed- like him… great vision, made a lot of steals… quick short release… only question – has Liiga contract…

Ian or others– how does that effect – when an NHL team can actually- skate him???

  17. Noah Dobson is overrated… I see him play twice last week in Victoriaville and trust me I did see anything special in him… Galipeau will be a Darren Raddysh 2.0… Sorry but we need to go with a Evan Bouchard, Quinn Hughes or a Forward in Oliver Wahlstrom

  18. In a year when just about nothing went well for the Hawks, it figures that they can’t even catch a break in the draft lottery. It will be interesting to see how the draft shakes out.

  19. Fine line between 7th and 12th predraw. We did as good as we could ever done during the last 25 games to get as close to 7th instead of 12th. That is the reason why were getting a top prospect. On other yrs drafts arnt this deep and we have a yr like this/with everything that happened and transition yr, on a deep draft yr.

Blessing in disguise we had those thing happen. We couldn’t have possible had a worse yr for things but it happened on the right yr, draft wise. Now were going to get, what is usual, a top4/5 pick.

Were going to make some moves and add some quality ufa for the yr coming up. Were prob a good yr away from being a top team again (like BOS). Good to be a top team again, but we need to be able to compete with WIN/NAS/TB those are the Cup teams. No other team is close roster wise to them, right now/this yr. We need to replace 81 and 4, then were back.

  20. “Big Kahuna”? …5-9 and 175 pounds.

I believe if they want Brady Tkachuk, Bowman will have to trade up.

  21. What would cost be to trade up to get him/someone else. Would you rather have him then the Defenseman we will get anyways.

  22. Wall they would sign him to an elc and bring over under a league transfer agreement where if didn’t stay on nhl roster his liiga team has first option to take him back, before going to minors here.
