Blackhawks Sign Ryan Hartman

On Monday morning, the Blackhawks announced that they have agreed to terms with forward Ryan Hartman on a three-year, entry-level contract.

Hartman was the Hawks’ first round selection (30th overall) in the 2013 NHL Draft, and is currently playing with the Plymouth Whalers in the OHL.

  1. SSHM, there’s no room for an undersized Hartman right now, as there is a LOG JAM ahead of him…but it does tell us that he is a man amongst boys in Jrs right now and there is no reason to keep him there…he will come to Rockford at the end of his Jr season and start the process…

I really like Hartman…I was hoping the Hawks were going to draft him, because I know he’s going to make a good pro…the luxury we possess, like Tab mentioned, is that we can afford to take our time with him…in fact, we have no choice…we have to take our time with him…

  2. Anyone know why he did not play for Plymouth last weekend???

    is he hurt?

and lastly- I think he might qualify for xtra year in OHL!

  3. I’ve seen Hartman play a couple games for the US team in the U20 tourney last year and he is a high energy puck hunter. Seems to show up where the puck is a lot. It’s exciting to think about him playing on the Hawks 4th line with Danault and either Kruger or Shaw. That would give Q a high energy line that can play defense against any of the opponents lines. It’s still a couple/few years away so who knows how his game will develop in the meantime – but fun to think about.

  4. Hartman has great skills and has grit to his game.Glad the hawks got him the kid finds ways to win..
