Blackhawks Suspend Garret Ross Indefinitely

On Wednesday afternoon the Blackhawks released the following statement:

β€œOn Saturday afternoon, March 19, 2016, the Chicago Blackhawks and Rockford IceHogs learned of a legal proceeding against IceHogs player Garret Ross. At that time, we excused Garret from team activities pending our preliminary review of the matter. After further review, we have determined to suspend Garret indefinitely pending the outcome of the legal process. Because this is a pending legal proceeding, we will have no further comment at this time.”

Ross has been charged with revenge porn. The police report is available thru the Chicago Tribune.

  1. BREAKING: Sources tell me the unnamed teammate in the Garret Ross complaint is former @NHLBlackhawks first round draft pick Mark McNeill.

    Speculation:
this, and the fact that the Hawks may know this for some months, could explain, why McNeil never got called up.

  2. Great speculation, Druid….

Except McNeil DID get called up and DID play in an NHL game this year (Jan. 26).
Except charges were formally filed on Feb. 4.
And the organization is saying they learned of the accusations over the weekend, which means they acted relatively quickly if you believe the timeline they’re offering.

Paying attention to who plays helps avoid meaningless speculation

  3. Does it matter who the teammate was?

Police report is difficult to read with so many names omitted. I had a buddy that was doing something similar. Told him he was playing with fire. Ross was a dumbass and was pissed at the side girl he was seeing, who was also seeing but not dating other people. And blamed the side girl for breaking up his relationship. Dude, you’re on fucking tinder, while you have a girlfriend.

You’re a professional athlete. Do you need tinder to get girls?

Hope the Hawks cut ties with this kid. Not solely for what he did. But because he’s an idiot in general.

  4. I bet thousands of players in ALL sports have been deleting pictures and videos on their phones since this story broke. Lol!! Now the Holier than thou crowd is going to come out and act like they have never done something like this. Yeah, it’s wrong. Even if 90% of the people are doing it.
