Brandon Hagel Placed in COVID Protocol

After a gut-punch loss on Thursday night, the Blackhawks got another piece of tough news on Friday morning.

Forward Brandon Hagel has been placed in COVID protocol.

Hagel has been the best rookie surprise among Blackhawks skaters this season. His energy has filled a desperate need and he’s seamlessly navigated his way between all four lines. He has five goals and nine assists in 35 games and has become an important part of the Hawks offense.

Hagel is the sixth Blackhawks player to be placed in COVID protocol this season. Forwards Alex DeBrincat, Ryan Carpenter, and Lucas Wallmark and defensemen Nicolas Beaudin and Adam Boqvist have all missed time previously from being placed on COVID protocol.

  1. Damn, Brandon is the one guy worth watching. Interesting to see if the fore check over all suffers even more, hard to play next to a guy like Brandon and be lackadaisical on the fore check. ( strome / dach ) I think I Brandon can actually use a rest, but Hawks will miss him. He’s solidified his role on the Hawks already. IMO

A big shout out to CAT . . . MVP to me, bulked up, trained harder and he is relentless on the fore check for his size and still increased his offensive output is note worthy.
    You can do both!

    Go Hawks

    Go hawks

  2. Hopefully it’s an Covid exposure issue only and he doesn’t have Covid

In the first instance he might miss only a week like DCat in the second 2 weeks like Boquist

His health is most important but it’s a blow to the Hawks for sure when they’re already scrambling to stay alive in the playoff race

  3. Too bad, hope his health is not at risk and nobody else with team involved but have to wonder. Maybe only a precaution and a one and done in a few with any luck.

  4. 14 days? is not 14 games. 17 games? left.

Unless we have another 2-6 stretch like we just had we should be close to 4/5/6 seed all the way to game 55.

  5. 1 step forward 2 steps back with this team. If he has it shouldn’t just about the whole team be “Close Contacts” ? This probably is just the 1st shoe to drop.

  6. Hope he’s ok. The Hawks have not had the serious Covid problems other teams have had. Just6 hope for the best for everyone.

  7. It was announced this afternoon that the Blackhawks have acquired forward Vinnie Hinostroza from the Florida Panthers in exchange for forward Brad Morrison. The move reunites Hinostroza with the team that originally drafted him, and where he would go on to play the first three seasons of his NHL career.

  8. @brad allen the “vaccine” does not prevent someone from getting or spreading covid. The mrna altering “vaccine” only reduces severity of symptoms….if even that. Its not a “vaccine” in the traditional sense. Your comment gave me a solid laugh though. Thanks. I strongly suggest you do some research on the subject.

  9. Does Coach Q see what I see in Brad Morrison?

Hagel- was the most fun guy to watch most of season. He will be missed. Actually a good thing- cuz Hawks record will probably suffer- to the point their Draft pick order is improved.
