For his hit on Blackhawks forward Ben Smith on Wednesday night, Detroit prospect Brendan Smith has been suspended for the rest of the preseason plus five regular season games.

Arbitration Dates Set for Blackhawks Free Agents
The NHLPA released the dates for arbitration hearings on Friday. Viktor Stalberg will be July 20, and Chris Campoli will be August 3.

TSN’s Bob McKenzie has indicated Brian Campbell will be traded to Florida, and has agreed to waive his no-trade clause. The Blackhawks will receive winger Rostislav Olesz.
Blackhawks Trade Troy Brouwer To Washington
The Chicago Blackhawks have traded Troy Brouwer, who is still a restricted free agent, to the Washington Capitals for the 26th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Draft. The Blackhawks now own two first round picks.
