  1. Mox, how does Pitt have 8 forwards making over 2.1 mil for a total of 42.9 mil and 6 dmen making over 2.1 mil for a total of 26.2 mil. Compared to our 6 forwards making over 1 mil for a total of 35.2 mil and 6 d men making over 1.2 mil for a total of 21.9 mil.
That is 69.1 for 14 players on Pitt and 57.1 mil for our 12 players. Adding the Breadman at say 8 mil leaves us with 4 more mil for equal amount of players as Pitt for same money spent. It can happen. I think ND grads with a major in finance can make that happen. We can still be competitive as Pitt is still competitive.

  2. Signing Panarin depends on a lot things. There is a lot of potential performance bonuses, in 5m range that can be made this year. The cap space available now could be eaten up by them, possibly why he is leaving that there to see how that may play out. But in another year the same ball park amount will be pending too. With Schmaltz most likely in 6m range and Sikura a nd Ejdsell will get paid by what they show this year. Debrincat in 2 years likely in Schmaltz range, with unknown contracts possibilities Nalimov if he continues to look like the goalie of the future, Mitchell could be into 2nd contract if he burns a year this season at the end. Shalunov maybe too plus other probably less expensive rfas. With no big contracts other than Crawford in 2 years expiring, cap room could be made by moving AA and likely Murphy or Seabrook be gone in 2 years. May have some tough decisions in 2 years time to make on rfas if not this year, to make that kind of signing. It can be done but not going to be easy. Could end up sacrificing good young players with alot of good hockey ahead of them for a couple of more years from Panarin until his play starts trending down.

  3. We can add Bread Man and be fine, if we want and he wants to come back.
We need to have deep roster, then were a top team again. Need that young wave.

  4. The most important thing is trading Hoss contract.
Now we wait, until people can take it anymore. Then we pounce next summer.

  5. It doesn’t seem like 8 and 12 are as good as 19 and 88 in their first contracts (I know theres a 8 yr gap in that).
If both 8 and 12 are that good, then were going to smiling at how good we are with having that many young elc Defenseman on the way.

  6. That works Mo but if he has a big year, you know what a contract year brings out in some players, the cost could go up in a hurry.

  7. They should factor that in, when doing caphits.
What the player did in every yr in previous contract and what they think he could do in the yrs signed.

  8. JR,
Because the big money players Pitt has sunk their money in actually still produce and haven’t regressed, unlike 19, 7, and 2. Huge difference.

  9. Where do you think Seabs is going? And Panarin will get somewhere between 7.75 and 8.5 mill/yr would be my guess. We can’t afford that and still be competitive guys. Not unless you include a fountain of youth in that Panarin deal.

  10. Not trying to sound like,
the fountain of youth will be those Defenseman and maybe college guys.

Bread Man is that caphit, that would be nice.

7 can go where the untradeable 81 sent/similar.
Maybe OTT or MTL would like to make another whopper trade.
