The Blackhawks first round pick (28th overall) in 2009, Olsen made his NHL debut during the 2011-12 season. He registered one assist in 28 regular season games with the Hawks, and saw limited action in one postseason game.
Because of the lockout, he will begin the 2012-13 season in Rockford. A crowded NHL blue line might lead to more ice time in the AHL for Olsen this season, but his physical play could give Stan Bowman options if/when an NHL season begins.
