Kyle Beach – Left Wing
DOB: 01/13/1990 Ht: 6’3 Wt: 210
Drafted: 1st round (11th overall) in 2008 – Everett Silvertips
Beach was drafted to add toughness to the Blackhawks organization, largely because of his history of piling up penalty minutes and willingness to drop his gloves with anyone. His offense struggles to transition to the professional game in his first full season in the AHL, as he scored only 16 goals with just 20 assists with 163 penalty minutes in 71 regular season games.
With the continued focus on players that combine talent with size, Beach is no longer the alpha male in the organization and will now need to choose: can he play physical hockey and be a productive offensive player, or is his career destined to be in the mold of Sean Avery?
Beach opened eyes in Spokane of the WHL 2009-10 with 52 goals, 34 assists and 186 penalty minutes in 68 regular season games, followed by seven goals in seven postseason games.
