Prospect Profile: Sam Jardine

Sam Jardine, Defenseman

DOB: 08/12/1993   Ht: 6’1   Wt: 190

Drafted: 6th round (169th overall) in 2011 – Camrose (AJHL)

Jardine didn’t get a lot of hype heading into the 2011 NHL Draft, but has been a fascinating player to watch during the team’s prospect camp. He’s an outstanding skater who handles the puck well and shoots effectively from the blue line, and has speed to burn.

With Camrose in 2010-11, Jardine had 22 points (six goals, 16 assists) in 50 regular season games, followed by 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 23 playoff games.

The Blackhawks have plenty of organizational depth on the blue line, so there’s no rush for Jardine to be an impact player in Chicago any time soon. But the skills he showed at the prospect camp indicate that the future may be bright for a late-round sleeper.
