Shawn Lalonde – Defenseman
DOB: 03/10/1990 Ht: 6’1 Wt: 205
Drafted: 3rd round (68th overall) in 2008 – Belleville Bulls
Signed a three-year contract with Chicago 12/31/2009
Lalonde is a smooth skater with very good hands and excellent vision on the ice. He can be used in all situations, but took a step back last season in Rockford. Poor decision making led to lost ice time for Lalonde, who will have to battle additions to the Rockford roster in NHL veteran Nick Leddy and AHL newcomer Klas Dahlbeck for quality ice time this year.
If Lalonde can look more like the AHL rookie that posted 32 points during the 2010-11 season, he’ll give the organization some options on the blue line. If he continues to struggle, as he did with only 13 points in 76 games last year, it might lead to a change of scenery for Lalonde.
