Happy Valentine’s Day, and happy anniversary to an all-time Blackhawks great!
It was 25 years ago today – Feb. 14, 1989 – that Jeremy Roenick scored his first NHL goal with the Chicago Blackhawks.
Roenick scored his first goal in Minnesota against the North Stars, and had a four-point night 24 hours later against at home against Washington. He scored nine times in 20 games during the 1988-89 season.
Before he was dealt out of Chicago, Roenick would score 267 goals in 524 games. In comparison, Patrick Kane has scored “only” 176 goals in 505 games before the Olympic break, and Patrick Sharp has scored “only” 217 in 589 games in a Blackhawks sweater.
