Happy Birthday, Nick Leddy

Nick Leddy was born on March 20, 1991, making him 22 years old today. He’ll skate in his 158th career NHL game this evening in Anaheim, and has 56 points (10 goals, 46 assists) already on his NHL resume.

It is worth noting that January 19, 1991 – just over two months before Nick Leddy was born – was the last time the Chicago Blackhawks hosted the NHL All-Star Game. Not only does that make many fans feel old, but it makes you wonder what’s taking the league so long to come back to Chicago? The United Center has never hosted an NHL All-Star Game.

  1. Happy Birthday Nick…he’s a great young player, and a fantastic trade by Bowman. The sky is the limit for Leddy’s career with the Hawks. I have been really impressed by how much his hockey smarts have improved this season…he’s making good decisions on the ice.

  2. Leddy came in the hard way. Although overall has played well, his first 100 games showed he needed time in the AHL. He has progressed to a good second pair man or a great 3d pair man.

Tab, Leddy is one that worries me. I hope Bowman gets him a contract that is reasonable for him and the team ($2 to $2.25). If he hits the market, who knows what kind of offer sheet he will receive. I don’t want the team to get “hammered”.

  3. Holy Ray LeBlanc that footage puts things in perspective!!! As for Leddy im still not solid on him as much as some other fans and BlackHawks management is,…hopefully Stan will lock him up for a while because he does have a nice skill set, but im not sure he will ever be a top 4 d-man because of his size.

  4. I was fortunate enough to be there in 1991. In my 52 years I have been to tons of sporting events. That afternoon remains #1 on my list. There is always alot of talk of Whitney Houston’s Super Bowl performance around that same time. Please. Not even in the same
stratosphere as NHLs version . fwiw, I think Damphouse had 4G for MVP

  5. Thanks for bringing back that great memory.

I had seasons from 81 -88 , 7 rows off of the ice behind the visiting teams right post. Friggin awesome. To watch Savard, Larmer (best one-timer in da game, ever), Secord, Lysiak etc was awesome.

The crowd raged every night during that song.
