Joakim Nordstrom Named IceHogs Captain

On Tuesday, the Rockford IceHogs named forward Joakim Nordstrom the team captain for the 2014-15 season.

Nordstrom, 22, was a third round pick (90th overall) by the Blackhawks in the 2010 NHL Draft. In 58 games in the AHL last season, Nordstrom ranked third on the IceHogs with 17 goals and added 16 assists. He also played 16 games in the NHL last season, contributing one goal and two assists.

Cody Bass, Adam Clendening, Klas Dahlbeck, Pierre-Cedric Labrie were named alternates for the IceHogs.

  2. Forgot to add, four rotating alternate captains were also named: Clendening, Klas Dahlbeck, P.C. Labrie, and Cody Bass. So, two up and coming prospects and two AHL veterans, seems like good choices and a nice mix.

  3. I would far prefer to have Nordstrom up here now in place of Morin. Nordstrom can skate and has the potential to be a nice complement with Kruger on the PK.

  4. I saw a lot of Morin in Junior, not fast-quick-he has become a legitimate NHL skater. Some people pick on Q-others knock other ‘dead horses’ to death. Both deserve our respect.
