Jonathan Toews Nominated for Sportsnet Canadian Athlete of the Year

On Thursday, Sportsnet announced that Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews is nominee for Canadian Athlete of the Year.

This comes in the wake of the Ottawa Sun proclaiming that Toews should be the captain of Canada’s hockey team at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

    The Cpt doesn’t accept losing very well. He is a proven leader and is driven to improve his game. Players like Tazer are what every team wants, but don’t come around very often. He makes everyone else on his team raise their game as he leads by example. We are blessed to have him wear the Indian head with a big C on his sweater. A natural choice to lead Team Canada.
