Kris Versteeg To Miss A Month

Kris Versteeg

After Saturday’s skate, Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville told the media the team expects forward Kris Versteeg to miss about a month with a hand injury suffered in the Winter Classic.

Versteeg, 28, was enjoying a career renaissance with his legs finally healthy, posting nine goals and 18 assists in 34 games. Chicago has 12 games in January with the All-Star Break coming later in the month.

  1. Sad for Versteeg but good for other players who will need to step up. Teuvo, Nordstrom, and so on. Ross might have been considered but he has been hurt.

I suspect they will add someone at the deadline, gobs of scouts in Rockford the past few games. Tried to chat one up to no avail, very tight lipped.

  2. Yup Mo, a mobile guy with a bit of a nasty streak … probably a pending UFA the Bowman’s are familiar with. Let the guessing games begin …

The Runblad’s and Erixon’s of the world are more next year guys, they are getting an extended audition here in the regular season. Keep the mileage off the important guys.

  3. Freak injuries happen and thank goodness it wasn’t his knee again. Plenty of time to heal and get back to top form before playoffs.

    Get well Kris.
