Marty Turco Headed to Chicago… Officially?

The new Niemi: Is Turco officially headed to Chicago?

On Sunday night, WGN’s Dan Roan broke news that the Blackhawks had signed veteran goalie Marty Turco to a one-year, $1.75M deal. He indicated that the deal is done, and an announcement was expected on Monday.

This would end the Antti Niemi Era at the United Center, and put a cloud over the young netminder’s next location. The Blackhawks have until mid-day Monday to make a decision on Niemi’s $2.75M arbitration award.

There has not been an official announcement from the Blackhawks regarding either goalie yet.

UPDATE: In the wake of the Twitter universe exploding over Roan’s report, the Blackhawks have not officially¬†commented. However, according to a source close to the situation a deal is not done… yet. Stay tuned.
