According to the Blackhawks’ web site at 3:20 EST Friday afternoon, the Hawks have recalled forward Bryan Bickell from Rockford.
Earlier in the day, coach Joel Quenneville told the media that defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson would not dress for Friday’s game against Boston because he was “under the weather;” Hammer took a couple of hard pucks to the ankle/shin area on Wednesday night and wasn’t skating very well in practice. In his place, Jordan Hendry was set to dress as the sixth defenseman and Tomas Kopecky would dress as well.
Kopecky has been a healthy scratch twice in December in favor of Hendry to play out of position as a forward. He hasn’t been effective this season, struggling to define his role on the third and fourth lines. Kopecky was brought in to be a physical player after leading Detroit in hits last year, but has played soft more times than not.
Cam Barker left Wednesday night’s game after a hard hit in the corner with what appeared to be a knee injury and did not return after the mid-point in the second period, but he is listed as active in the most recent update on the Hawks’ web site.
More to come…
