On Monday the NHL revealed their Three Stars of the week for December 13-20, and Chicago Blackhawks’ goalie Cristobal Huet is at the top of the list as the First Star.
Huet started two games last week, against St. Louis and Detroit, and didn’t allow a goal in either. He stopped all 47 shots he faced in the two shutout victories. Huet and backup Antti Niemi both have three shutouts on the season, giving the Blackhawksthe lead in the entire NHL with six team shutouts.
After a mediocre start to the season during which many fans and analysts, CommittedIndians included, called for Huet’ sreplacement, the Frenchman has bounced back incredible well to be among the NHL leaders in most statistical categories. He ranks third in the NHL in goals against average at 2.01, his 16 wins are tied for ninth, and his .916 save percentage is tied for 16th in the league.
