Patrick Kane Named USA Captain

Patrick Kane will not only represent the United States at the upcoming World Championships in Slovakia, but the Blackhawks forward will serve as the captain of the team.

On Monday USA Hockey announced that Kane would return as captain of the team after earning tournament MVP honors last year while wearing the “C” for the US. Kane’s 20 points in last year’s tournament established a new record for USA Hockey at the tournament and tied Dany Heatley for the most points in any World Championship in the last 40 years.

  1. Kane just loves to play hockey – congrats for being re-named captain and good luck to him (don’t get injured)

  2. Congrats to one of the all-time great players. Like Stafanie, am always worried about him getting hurt.

His passing is among the best ever. Just an amazing set up man (Example: perfect pass to Keith for the Cup winning goal in 2015.) He knows when to take the shot which gets through traffic, setting up his teammates for rebounds. Too bad the Hawks have had a weak net presence for years. Would have had many more assists with stronger players in front of the net.

  3. I hope Jonny does not suit up for Canada simply because he takes more punishment and rest can only help him. That said, it would be pretty funny to see him put on the “C” and go up against Kane. Might give rise to some memorable trash talk.
