Ray Emery Signs with Blackhawks

Matt Nichol, Ray Emery’s trainer, tweeted at approximately 2 PM CT that Emery has signed with the Blackhawks.

Just over an hour later, the Blackhawks officially announced a one-year deal with Emery, and assigned Alexander Salak to Rockford. Emery’s deal has a $600k cap number.

With Emery signed, and assuming Brandon Saad’s entry level contract has him headed to Saginaw at some point, the Blackhawks have roughly $3.8M in cap space with a full, 23-man NHL roster.

Salak would be better served playing every day in Rockford than sitting on the bench. He should benefit by the experience and be ready to step in if anything should happen to Crawford.
