Report: Blackhawks Sign Prospect Byron Froese

Reports out of Canada early this weekend are that the Blackhawks have agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level deal with 20-year-old center Byron Froese.

Froese, the Blackhawks fourth round pick (119th overall) in the 2009 Draft, needed to sign before June for the Blackhawks to continue holding his rights.

Listed at 6’1 and 180 pounds, Froese is another young center that will get a crack at the lineup in Rockford this coming season. He spend the 2010-11 campaign with Red Deer in the WHL, posting 43 goals and 38 assists and a plus-12 rating in 70 games.

According to RDS, the deal carries an NHL value of $1.575M over three years.
