Report: Blackhawks Interested In Vinni Lettieri

UPDATE: Lettieri will be a Ranger.

The Frozen Four is now set, which means every other college player has time to make a decision about his future in the game. One free agent center is reportedly on the mind of Blackhawks brass.

Lettieri, 22, just completed his senior season at Minnesota. He is listed at 5-10 and 187 pounds. His production improved in each of his four seasons, peaking with 19 goals and 37 points this year. He earned All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors as a senior.

This season Lettieri was a teammate of sophomore forward Jack Ramsey, who was a seventh round pick (#208) by the Blackhawks at the 2014 NHL Draft. Lettieri’s freshman year overlapped with former Blackhawks prospect Justin Holl at Minnesota as well.

Russo later tweeted that he expects an announcement to come on Monday.

Lettieri also just so happens to be the grandson of Lou Nanne, who played 635 games for the Minnesota North Stars before serving that organization as both coach and general manager.

  1. This isn’t the same potential loss as Hayes–not a pick and not as much upside-
the Hawks have A LOT of young forwards as good or better.

  2. Holl actually has turned into a very good AHL player. He plays on the Toronto Marlies top pair and wears an “A”

Back in 2015, he had a very good year in Indy, but Ted Dent liked Gotovets and Robin Press, better. So those two played in the late part of the season and in the playoffs for Rockford.

  3. TIN…I was thinking the same thing. LOL!!! Hayes? Vesey? Then the Rangers signed Pirri and Clendening this season. They like Our guys. I still think Clendening is going to be a decent NHL defenseman

  4. I don’t know anything about this guy. If Stan signs him – good because he must think he has some promise. If not – meh.

  5. Vinni to Vinnie!!!

Vinni- 55% at the dot… pretty good… but NY might have less competition in system??? I really don’t follow Ranger’s prospects.

Also rumored- Hawks after Vinni’s teammate Kloos?

  6. ?he’s a quick skater with good hands, a huge shot. Works hard will go get pucks. Has a huge heart. Will leave all he has on the ice?. Even though he’s 5’10 he’ll hit and go to the corners. He’s a very good face off guy. More then likely a fourth line center/ ahl body.

  7. Then we donot want him. Any guy who doesnt want to earn playing time/spot on roster isint the type of character we want. Hayes will regret that for the rest of his career.

  8. The Hawks will sign Matt Iacopelli instead ! 6’2” 195lbs it’s better than Lettieri to me!

  9. We could use a good right hand draw (it’s a rare commodity) and we haven’t had one in a long time. Shaw wasn’t great overall, but my recall was that he could hold his own in the right circle. Sharp was good, but seldom used. Obviously just being good in the dot doesn’t get you a job, but it’s one thing to consider.
