Report: Swedish Center Coming To Chicago?

According to reports in Sweden, the Blackhawks have invited 22-year-old center Anton Bengtsson to the team’s rookie camp next week.

Bengtsson scored 13 goals and was credited with six assists in 52 games for HV71 Jonkoping last season, where he was a teammate of former Blackhawks defenseman Chris Campoli. He is listed at 6-0 and 176 pounds, and is the cousin of Rangers forward Jesper Fasth.

Citing Bengtsson’s agent, the story indicates he had multiple offers for rookie camps this summer and chose the Blackhawks.

The Hawks have also reportedly invited Vaxjo goalkeeper Stefan Steen. Steen, 22, was a teammate of former NHL forward Jeff Tambellini last season.

  1. Great info, thanks. Especially interested in learning more about the goaltender, they need a couple in the system.

  2. I credit the Hawks for pursuing these youngsters. They have had good success with Swedish players. I was initially upset with the Saad trade but when I got more details I understand that type of contract would have killed the team. Have to give Bowman the benefit of the doubt considering his past performance.
