Two Blackhawks Prospects Among Elite Canadian Juniors

Defenseman Dylan Olsen and center Brandon Pirri were selected to compete for a spot on Canada’s World Junior Championship team at Hockey Canada’s evaluation camp starting Dec. 12 in Toronto.

Olsen and Pirri were the Blackhawks’ top two picks in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

Olsen, the 28th overall selection in 2009, is a sophomore at the University of Minnesota-Duluth. Listed at 6-3, 206 pounds, he has one goal, 11 assists and an even plus/minus in 14 games this season.

Pirri, the 59th overall pick in 2009, has four goals and four assists in Rockford. He made his NHL debut on Oct. 9, the home opener, against Detroit.

The final roster, selected from 39 invited players, will be named on Dec. 15. The 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship begin Dec. 26 in Buffalo, NY.
