That sucks, I really liked how Vancouver has choked in the playoffs for the past two years!!

  2. Peter says:

Great, will he just get hired by a team in our new division?

  3. the Greek says:

    fucking douchebag…got what he deserved,

  4. SouthSideHitMan117 says:

I said the Nucks would never win a cup with him coaching and Reboundo in net! I win!

  5. Matt says:

Was more of the dirty/scummy play that earned Vancouver the hatred of virtually every other team and fanbase in the league more attributable to Alain V, or to the d**ks on their roster? (Bieksa, et al) More to the point: will their dirty play change now?

2 President trophies,Finals appearance and multiple division titles? No coach can adjust to a schiztophrenic Goalie like “Reboundo”(awesome name Southside).Theyve been a one line team with a dirty style of play nothing more.Thought hes done a great job with that team full of assheads considering.Should of traded the “ghost players” who seem to never show up in the postseason(Kesler etc.)But again maybe Ive enjoyed that mediocrity and dont want it to change.AV is a good coach even in my biased opinion.

Good questions Matt. I believe the character of Vancouver Canucks was forged by not only AV, but also by Gilles. It almost always starts at the top as far as the attitude of any team. If I was a Nucks fan I would also be screaming for Gilles head to roll as well. Of all the franchises in the league I have never seen the character of an organization more disliked by fans and other players than Vancouver, especially in the last 5 years. When The B’s beat Vancouver 2 years ago, the rejoicing was incredibly, insanely widespread. Gilles and AV built that team so it’s on them as well as the group they put together. In this case they got what they paid for.

I think their character will change, but you you still need to see certain players on that team purged to affect a turnaround. A skilled yet flawed team with some bad characters.

Vigneault has been linked to Dallas. It will be interesting if he ends up going there since they are going to be in the Hawks division next year. They have some upside of becoming a talented team down the road with some of their young players they acquired at the trade deadline this year. On top of that they have some already skilled players with Lehtonen, Benn, Erikson and Daley. It would be a shame if he came in there and inspired the team to dive on every check and deliver dirty hits to the opposing team. That being said, Im glad he got fired, what a prick.

I think the Canucks are going to stay the same. I agree with Phil that the team starts at the top. In my opinion, the Canucks get to the playoffs again next year and lose in the first round….again. Then Gilles will probably get fired after the Canucks choke in the playoffs again.

The Hawks have become the Canucks the last 3 years in that they flop in the playoffs. It is painful. Vancouver? They need to be honest with themselves and do a bit of rebuilding. Their window has closed.
