2014 NHL Awards: NHL Foundation Award Preview

Duncan Keith is a finalist for two of the awards the NHL will hand out in Las Vegas on Tuesday night.

Keith, Boston’s Patrice Bergeron and San Jose’s Brent Burns are the three finalists for the 2013-14 NHL Foundation Player Award, presented to “an NHL player who applies the core values of hockey – commitment, perseverance and teamwork – to enrich the lives of people in his community.”

NHL clubs submitted nominations for the NHL Foundation Player Award and the finalists were selected by a judging panel. The NHL Foundation will present $25,000 to the chosen charitable organization of this year’s recipient.

@ David – because picking one player’s charitable contributions as “better” than another seems a bit superficial, no?

All 3 are doing amazing things…as are hundreds of other NHLers…its an amazing league…these guys play the toughest sport with the toughest schedule, fly under the US radar for the most part, play through pain likes its just part of the game, and are the MOST charitable of their time and money…its a special game played by special people.
