I copied this from previous post. Thanks Tab for posting this. Not sure how Shaw getting face slammed into glass by Richards is a dive? My seats are right down there by glass /goal line and whats the ref supposed to do with that one??

Wow, Shaw fined by NHL for diving in LA game? What a joke. NHL justice system is so inconsistent and random it has no credibility. This one play gets singled out? This happens almost every game! Not that Shaw is innocent in how he approaches the game, but this judgement at such a late date is just bizarre. There should be a list of 30-50 players on this getting same BS fine that will do nothing to change behavior on the ice.

This video did not look like it was a dive. It looked like he was checked from behind and went down. It’s not like Shaw to go down like that on purpose so close to the net. He would much rather push his way between the dots to help make a play when the puck gets that deep. So I don’t really buy it. WEAK!

Brutal is the only word to describe that decision by the NHL.

Regardless of these ones, if the league fines players 2k like Shaw for dives then they should be fining guys like Crosby 2m.

Wheres the 5min major and game ejection and automatic suspension for cross checking Shaw in the face (which is part of the head, right)(or is it not part of the head, since ‘its in front of the net’) that happened 2 times in the 2nd 40 games this season.

The league is a fucking disgrace with the ‘in front of the net’ excuse for not calling penalties and for not having a chart for automatic suspensions for head contact and ‘in the numbers’ push/check into boards when in vulnerable positions. To me there needs to 10/20/and 40 game suspensions (with pay after first 2-5 games without pay) and one less roster spot and caphit, etc. for these type of hits/things. The league needs a chart so they cant do whatever they want as they go along. That’s why I like the delayofgame penalty and coachs (challenege) instant replay on all plays regardless of whistle or any rule. These are things the refs/league then cant manipulate. Otherwise with how much they let the bigger and physical team get away with much/many more penaltys per game, the NHL might as wel put twi line passing back in and allow football tackles in front of the net.

I will say one thing/this, if this is what the league wants to do/is doing/going to do/keep. Then they better keep it the same for the next 10 yrs because we have a bunch of guys coming (mainly on D) that are going to punish people in front of the net/and other areas and we will enjoy watching the other teams players getting blasted in these areas instead of us having to play through it, then outplay the other team to win the game.

Shaw is an instigator and a raging hemorrhoid on the ice. That is his job description in the NHL and what keeps him in this league. If be played on any other team and did what he does to the Hawks, to include this dive?!? Well then we all would call him all sorts of nasty names and demand Gary Bettman (aka Count Chocula) suspend his goofy ass.

Bettman does look like Count Chocula…good one!

Roberto Luongo is Count Chocula, and Anze Kopitar is Frankenberry.

A while back, one of you posted a video link showing all the diving that the Bruins, particularly Charo and Marchand, get away with.

    How much were they fined?

The thing that keeps cracking me up about this, is the fact that it isn’t a dive by Shaw.

How hilarious is this fine, so backwards of the league to fine/suspend the clean teams and let the dirty and cheap teams get away with stuff every game.

Phil, this is probably the funniest thing the league has done in the 82 games.
