Blackhawks Acquire Tim Jackman, Pick For Corey Tropp

The Blackhawks made another minor move before the trade deadline on Monday.

Chicago acquired the rights to veteran forward Tim Jackman with a seventh round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft from Anaheim for forward Corey Tropp.

Jackman was immediately assigned to the San Diego Gulls of the AHL.

Tropp was acquired in the trade sending Brandon Saad to Columbus this summer, meaning the Hawks have now traded away three of the players in that deal (Jeremy Morin, Marko Dano and Tropp). Artem Anisimov isn’t going anywhere any time soon, though.

Could this be the end of the Brandon Mashinter project in Chicago?

Ernie/ER, so we didn’t LTIR Krugs.

  • February 29, 2016 at 5:52 pm

Nope. I read something the blues GM said about putting Steen and someone else in LTIR when asked if he was going to take advantage of it. His response was kind of snarky and something like oh you mean circumventing the cap?

I have a feeling after reading that. That the GMs had a talk about the use of LTIR.

  • February 29, 2016 at 5:55 pm

It could also be them not needing to. They only have so much capital as far as prospects and don’t want to give away too many so the LTIR space wouldn’t have mattered

….was hoping for John Scott…lol….but we go to war with Jackman and Mashinter……after all Bollig and Carcillo are gone………Jackman will do fine in his role in the playoffs….go Hawks!…….

“That the GMs had a talk about the use of LTIR.” “the Kings moved Marian Gaborik to long-term injured reserve” – I guess Dean Lombardi didn’t read the memo?

  • February 29, 2016 at 10:28 pm

    Anthony Justin, really?

Your rather have Mashinter and John Scott on our playoff fourth line than say…Panik, Desjardins, Kruger or Shaw? How long have you been watching hockey, exactly? I hope you were being sarcastic.

Blues GM Doug Armstrong is just mad because blues ownership wouldnt have given him the additional money anyways.

  • March 1, 2016 at 6:08 am

….lol Kobi….been watching hockey since original six on hockey night in Canada….are you questioning Bowman’s reasoning for selecting Jackman or a Carcillo in the past on the team….stick to non contact sports like baseball.!!!

The idiot brigade still wants to rip Mashinter. A player that has clearly won the validation of Quenneville and the coaching staff. A player who has been perfectly fine in his niche role for this team. But alas, the idiot brigade knows more than the second most wins coach in NHL history. And one of the best General Managers in the game.

Weeping and gnashing of teeth over the loss of Sekac? Y0u have to be kidding me. Have the idiots lit candles in honor of his tragic departure from the United States?

McNeil has no trade value, so hardly surprised he wasn’t moved. Good filler for Rockford.

Pressure definitely on Hitchcock in St. Louis. It will be interesting to see which team shows up come playoff time. If they bow out early again there will be some major house cleaning this summer in St. Louis.

Dallas doesn’t concern me. Goaltending and defense are their achille’s heel.

The chase for the Cup has 4 true contenders in my mind…Capitals, Lightning, Kings and Blackhawks. An argument can be made for the Rangers, but I’m not buying it.

15 write-ups 5 days, all very well done as I see it, makes you almost as busy as SB and crew. Just wanted you to know how much your work is valued and respected by myself and thousands (at least) of others. Thank you for your continued excellence.

whiplash (rufus?) I would add Anaheim to that list:

    1. Hawks 2. Caps 3-5. Kings, Bolts, Ducks

  • March 1, 2016 at 10:06 am

The Ducks/Kings game on Sunday night was a man’s game. Two big tough nasty teams. Hopefully they beat the crap out of each other before the conference finals.

Agree with Rufus re: the Blues. I believe the only move they made was for a 3rd goalie. I wonder how it plays in their dressing room when the organization came out and said there were no negotiations to resign captain Backes prior to the deadline. Also believe they have no plans to resign Brower.

“Have the idiots lit candles in honor of his tragic departure from the United States?”

This idiot didn’t know Arizona seceded from the union.

You may be on to something there re: Snidely Whiplash = Rufus. Similar writing style and dopey comments.

We shall see how things play out when the play offs begin. Mashinter’s TOI will be reduced if he is not sitting in the press box or sent back to Rockford.

Mudturtle in the house!! Thanks, too funny.

  • March 1, 2016 at 12:14 pm

File that under times when trying to sound eloquent backfire.

    Stick taps mudturtle!

    Idiot brigade…..Hi Rufus!

  • March 1, 2016 at 12:17 pm

Rufus is the President of the Idiot Brigade, membership of one. A guy who could not detect talent even if it bit him in the ass. The most negative guy on the blog. All his negativity suggests he must be very unhappy with the coaching and management of the Hawks. But if somebody other than him complains about a coaching or management decision they are idiots. Talk about a double standard. Judging by his assessments over the years I highly doubt he has ever picked up a hockey stick.

  • March 1, 2016 at 12:31 pm

I had an old Chimo stick ,..,cost about a buck in 1977,.,.real sweet .
Used it for both road and pond hockey,.,.,the blade was about an inch tall when i took one to many slap shots,.,..,good times.

  • March 1, 2016 at 12:51 pm

So Hawks1961 is like the king of the dipsh!ts here. I guess it’s kinda cool. The next time he adds substantive value with one of his comments will be his first time. We should celebrate and buy balloons and cake.

  • March 1, 2016 at 1:58 pm

So… does this mean that I was correct? Snidely Whiplash IS Rufus?

  • March 1, 2016 at 2:19 pm

First you ruined Duck Soup for me, pretending to be Mr. Firefly, and now I won’t be able to watch Dudley Do-Right cartoons anymore. What is this world coming to? What a maroon!

  • March 1, 2016 at 2:20 pm

Appears that the Hawks want players with experience going into the playoffs. Expect to Mashitner and Rassmassen sent down. Both did the job but experience in the playoffs is good. Expect to see both back next year.

  • March 1, 2016 at 2:33 pm

Rufus. You can’t even carry Hawks1961’s jock strap much less beat him in a battle of wits. You are the quintessential idiot that resides on every online board.

Ernie, I wasn’t sure if we could use ‘that kind of’ LTIR for player bonus like it was cap space. Unless, then your right we didn’t need it. That must be why we didn’t do it.

  • March 1, 2016 at 9:17 pm

Ahh damn it. Had a nice well thought out post. And went looking for Doug Armstrong’s quote on LTIR and using it the way the Hawks did.

“Are you asking me if I’m going to circumvent the salary cap?” the Blues GM said with a laugh when we spoke Monday.

Can’t bank space when using LTIR so I doubt you can use it for bonus overage. Especially since bonuses are calculated after the year is over. Its a very abstract concept. So it’s difficult to grasp that part of it. I have a feeling the GMs had a POW wow and agreed LTIR use the way Stan did last year isn’t really in the spirit of the rule.

Jax, Tab knows he’s the shit. We don’t want his head to explode. Then where would we go?

  • March 1, 2016 at 9:42 pm

It’s always everybody else. That trait sounds like a few members of my family that have alienated everyone and are now all alone.

    I see some parallels.

Q has got to put the following line out….. at least for one shift:
