Blackhawks Assign 9, Including Lukas Reichel, To Rockford

On Wednesday afternoon the Chicago Blackhawks announced the club has assigned nine players to the IceHogs: Brett Connolly (who cleared waivers today), Jakub Pour, Josiah Slavin, Michal Teply, Andrei Altybarmakian, Louis Crevier, Isaak Phillips, Michael Krutil and Lukas Reichel.

Reichel, the Hawks’ first-round pick last year, looked good in preseason action over the past couple weeks but he’ll still head to the AHL to begin his professional career.

And that’s absolutely the right call.

The Blackhawks have too many bodies for their NHL roster right now, so sending Reichel to Rockford where he can get more consistent ice time and work on special teams units will benefit him and the organization in the long-term.

Chicago’s camp roster is now at 36 players.

Very good move to send Reichel in Rockford. The kid will play a lot and grow with professional. He will feel home in Rockford with many familiar faces around him including Connolly .
He need a 30-40 games minimum to learn the system.

No need to rush Reichel but I was impressed with his game – he’s a player and will be back up before long

Crevier still no contract must be signing minir league deal or would have elc by now probably. Juniors as overager may still be option for him as well only 20 yet. Agree best place for Reichel to start year most likely.

Decisions on Subban and Delia to come in goal. One of Galvas, Mitchell, Beaudin, Allan or Regula will be on opening night roster 2 if C. Jones still unavailable. Allan likely goes back to junior team but 10 game window available if they want to use it.

The waiver exempt forwards still in camp are Dach, Kurashev both locks for roster. Entwistle, Hardman and R. Johnson closest to earning a spot, plus Barrett, Teply almost certain to start in Rfd., C. Dach likely to go back to juniors, again 10 game window available. Bubble spots seem to be Strome and Nylander.

20F, 12D and 4G still in camp. Shaws Ltir still needs accounted for.
