Blackhawks Assign Jimmy Hayes To Rockford

On Saturday afternoon the Blackhawks assigned rookie forward Jimmy Hayes to Rockford. Hayes has four goals, three assists and six penalty minutes in 13 games with the Blackhawks.

The move was necessary after Chicago acquired Brendan Morrison from Calgary on Friday night. Chicago expects captain Jonathan Toews to return from IR in time for the team’s first game after the All-Star Break in Vancouver on Tuesday.

A move was necessary but not THAT move!

Not when you have John Scott on the roster.

I don’t think Jimmy has done anything to warrant the demotion back to Rockford. I understand it’s a numbers game, but it doesn’t make any sense.

I am giving Bowman the benefit of the doubt, considering that Bickell could/should be part of trade scenarios that he is working on. So obviously you want to keep him playing minutes (however limited). A demotion to Rockford would kill Bickell’s trade value, and considering he’s young and has a very reasonable (cheap) contract, with flashes of talent last year, he definitely does have some trade value.

A package consisting of some combination of: Bickell, Frolik, Lepisto, Morin, and Beach should get you a quality Defenseman, don’t you think? Then bring Jimmy Hayes right back up.

First, how does Hayes beio=ng sent down diminish the trade value of bickell? Second, Mark beach is injured and wont play the rest of the season.

Third, why the eff would another GM trade a #3 defenseman for Morin + Bickell, Beach, Lepisto, or Frolik?

First off nobody said that. I inferred that sending Bickell down to Rockford instead of Hayes would hurt Bickell’s trade value. Hayes is part of the Hawks future plans, I don’t think Bickell is anymore, which makes him expendable.

Secondly, who the hell is Mark Beach? I was referring to Kyle Beach of the Icehogs.

I suppose Bickell has to be go through waiver and can be taken for free. Thats why can be send down.

Just chill. Is rockford playing during the AS break? If so that’s a good move.

Like it was said, Bickell’s contact is One-Way, and he would have to clear waivers. Hayes can go for the time being “free” of charge and then come back up just as easy if/when we trade Bickell and/or Scott.
