Blackhawks-Blues Bumped Out Of Thanksgiving Showdown
The NHL announced Thursday that the Blackhawks vs. Blues game on Friday, Nov. 26 has been bumped out of the premier spot of the day.
Chicago’s game against St. Louis will now air on ESPN+/Hulu at 2:30 PM CST that day. The NHL replaced the Hawks-Blues with a Rangers-Bruins game in the marquee matchup on ABC/ESPN+ at noon CST.

The times, they are a changing.
I’m guessing the NHL didn’t want to hash over the legal hassles the Hawks are enduring during a family holiday.
I think it’s more the fact that Chicago can barely fill a stadium with their own fans let alone a national audience. Chicagos not a hockey town like Boston and NYC. Mostly filled with bandwagon jumpers
The world is not going insane after all – Carp is off PP1 at today’s practice replaced by Dach
Another sign of life post-Colliton
Probably no more outdoor games for awhile for the Hawks. Keep working hard boys and good things will come, right now you have to prove to everyone that you’re relevant.
@Wrap
Maybe Kub’s should get that , he’s actually proven he can score, Dach not so much.
It’s not surprising. ESPN loves to have the East Coast anyways. Chicago and St. Louis are not the powerhouses that they used to be. I’d rather see Midwest teams BUT…I suppose that’s my bias. Let’s really go outside the box and have Canadian Teams!!! Or not.
Aj67, I’m not terribly upset that the bandwagon chaff is falling away. Those that stay and go through the lean times are worth having in the fold.
Dollar – I also like Kub as an option there – he’s not as good a passer from there perhaps as Dach but definitely a better scorer – if Dach doesn’t work out I hope King does try Kub but for now Dach over Carp is an improvement
Guess ESPN didn’t appreciate Pat Foley,s sarcasm the other night. Another game that Blackhawk fans without ESPN PLUS or HULU will not be able to see anywhere. I have a feeling we are going to miss NBCSN more than we thought.
@Wrap….anyone is an improvement over Carp and that includes Dylan Strome
Edman68 I completely agree, it’s been nice taking my family to games and being able to afford it comfortably again
Dollar – I’ve previously suggested Strome in that role – I think he could be good there – passes well has a pretty good shot
Doesn’t win the puck though which Dach or Kub are both better at and that element is important
I understand wanting to give Dach a chance there but he’s got to improve his finish or he can’t stay
Good to see Dach in Carpenters spot, looks like Borgstrom could slot in with Strome and Hardman for Gaudette if he’s ready to go. Wonder where he sees TJ playing when he returns, could be as 3rd or 4C or wing. Or even in Hagels spot with Toews and Kubalik until he returns.
Wonder if Kalynuk gets another conditioning game in Rfd. tomorrow night, then likely recalled for road trip next week.
Next 10 games after Coyotes should provide a challenge for them. A west coast swing Seattle, Canucks, both Alberta teams, home against Blues and Sharks. Then east coast trip at Caps followed by games at Nyr& Nyi back to back, then Nyr back home again. Earn every point they get in those games for sure.
If the Hawks can finish implementing and perfecting Coach King,s 1-2-2 Left wing lock/Trap they should have no problem in at least being in those 10 games after the Yotes. Its a matter of being disciplined and stay out of track meets up and down the ice. Especially effective system on the road when those west coast teams want to put on a show. In todays presser Coach King subtly let it slip that the Hawks were playing a different system. Which was evident with everyone falling back into the slot areas to eliminate all those barrages from the slots and net front that they were giving up. This team does not have the horses/talented forwards to get into up and down games anyway so this system should be a way to stay in games to the end.
TimW hope that works, should help in the center ice area to disrupt things and slow down entries. The trap from years ago where Devils especially used alot of interference and hacks, fills the penalty box with way games called today, interested to see how his hybrid works for them.
great to see the stadium back to normal capacity…bandwagon fans are almost gone!
great to see the hawks bumped…who wants to watch an organization rebuilding, having sex scandal’s covered up,.
BTW how about another Blackhawk legend being removed from hockey,,,good ole Bob Murray.
plain and simple till Dach fines his mean edge, the kid will be an average player.
TimW- thanks for the bit about King using hybrid… my eye test- kinda told me same… biggest difference is supporting players NOT chasing their man w/o the puck… but all are helping/supporting the puck w/ recognition of their man being #2 priority.
Kinda reminds me of my Basketball days… we had 2 Man to man D’s… normal kind… and 2nd kind where if your man did NOT have the ball… everyone had at least one foot in the paint. Most teams we played thought we were in zone for 1-2 quarters b4 they figured it out as a “Sagging M to Man D”
Hawks- have been Much better at clearing slot w this system- cuz guys are there… and also- watching puck versus watching man- and not finding puck- unless it lands directly in front of them by chance.
might be many more low scoring affairs- but Hawks ain’t good enough to drive play like Cup teams
Yeah I noticed King talking about the 1-2-2 and how this should help clean up their neutral zone play which was killing them under Colliton
Teams routinely enters Hawks zone with the puck and speed forcing out D back
If they can slow teams down in the neutral suddenly our D men seem much more competent and our goalies aren’t seeing the same quantity of grade A chances
@Tim W and everyone else
Try this
https://nhl66.ir/simulator
He is using 1-2-2 forecheck where first forward goes in opposing zone and forces play up one side of the ice or other. Then 3 forwards form wedge to take away cross ice passing lanes and prevent opponents from gaining red line and dump puck in, ideally forcing a turnover. It can be used more aggresively to create offense or to conservative defensively to protect a lead.
When opponents gain keep possession across the red line, the usual coverage in a 1-2-2 when fully implemented is defensemen are responsible for puck carrier and forwards take other 2 wingers or winger and dman jumping into the rush by communication and recognition and follow them right to the goalline if necessary. The 3rd forward responsible for trailer on the play. If opposition maintains possession in dzone a type of glorified pk is used where one forward pressures out by blueline and other forwards and defence form a pk like box to protect slot area to ptevent high danger scoring chances. If that area attacked or confusion in coverage, there is a designed default as mentioned by collapse of the box to protect center ice area. Communication is key as alot of switching roles among forwards who stays back and who plays high area. This differs from left wing lock in which the left winger drops back to become a 3rd defenseman as soon as possession is lost and each is responsible for one third of the ice in a zone type defense. The forecheck in that case is either 2-3 or 1-1-3, not used much anymore.
The Oilers next Saturday should be a major test as to how looks against potent offense.
Sounds like King is going with the 1-2-2 forecheck to help in neutral zond and staying with Collitons man and half in the defensive system in their own end of ice going forward, from his comments today.
Stroke deserves to be in the top 6, hawks mgt and most of the people.posting here are too stupid to realize it. Kid has skill regardless of what you all say. And can produce in the right situation.
