Blackhawks Call Up Jeff Taffe, Place Ryan Johnson on IR
To replace injured center Ryan Johnson, the Blackhawks have recalled center Jeff Taffe. Johnson was placed on IR to make room on the NHL roster.
Taffe leads Rockford with 34 points (15 goals, 19 assists) in 44 games.
Johnson was hurt last night in Dallas. Taffe will join the Hawks in Phoenix for tonight’s game.
The Blackhawks acquired Taffe last summer in a cost-cutting trade that sent center Marty Reasoner to Florida. He was the 30th overall selection in the 2000 Draft by the St. Louis Blues, and will turn 30 one week from Saturday. He has 44 points (21 goals, 23 assists) and is minus-22 in 174 career NHL games with the Coyotes, Rangers, Penguins and Panthers.
