Blackhawks Hire CapFriendly Founder Dominik Zrim

Scott Powers at The Athletic reported earlier on Thursday that Dominik Zrim has been hired as the Blackhawks manager of hockey strategy.

If that name doesn’t ring a bell, his influence on sites like ours has been enormous over the past six years. Zrim is one of the founders of CapFriendly, an incredibly valuable resource for player contract information.

Sounds good -I love Capfriendly – hopefully he brings fresh insights and ideas into not only dealing with the cap but as well other hockey strategies

Manager of hockey strategy? What does that mean? Surely he won’t be calling the shots on defensive zone coverage or special team setups. Maybe change the title to cap consultant.

If you have access to The Athletic, the article contains a boatload of people who have titles that are, just as in ‘Manager of Hockey Strategy,’ not even close to “intuitively obvious”

    I think it’s a great move…

seems like another loophole in building a quality SC playoff team–
pile up some Injury prone- good players- and circumvent the “Cap ceiling” near Playoff time with LTIR guys- who are all healthy during Playoffs!

    lotta math there
