Good for his development, still needs a handful of nhl games to get 40 to count as year towards ufa also, may be something to watch after he comes back.

If this helps Joki’s development I am all for it. Hope AA and Forsling can stay healthy.

Probably a good mental break from the NHL grind. Hopefully he can have a good time, do well and come back rejuvenated.

So glad Joki is going. Why play for the bottom feeder when he can dominate and play for gold. Its only 4 nhl games.

Ian Mitchell made team Canada. Get a preview to see how close he is to nhl ready.

Original6 he will be one of the leaders on one of the stronger teams in tournament. That alone plus the level of competition means alot for his development.

Hopefully Entwistle makes Team Canada. He hasn’t been cut (yet) so there’s still a chance.

Anyone have an update on the injury status of Nordgren?

Nordgren was back his liuga team lineup before going to wjc camp. He is projected as 2nd or 3rd line rw for Finns.

Entwistle played on 4th line with Veleno and Bowers last game, figure that gives them a big fast physical line to have together. So hopefully that is correct.

This is a no brainer to send Joki to WJC – it’ll be less obvious what to do when he’s back

Unless there’s a trade of say Gus or Dahlstrom’s or Forsling’s play falls off a cliff not sure he’s one of the top 6 (you might say he’s a better option than Seabs but we all know that’s not going to happen) in which case he could be RFD bound

Another thought – I’d rather see Joki, Dahlstrom and Forsling all in ahead of Gus but that’s not going to happen either

From first to last, how would you rate our d-men strictly by how well they play defense (do not factor in o-zone play).
    1. Keith
    2. Jokiharju
    3. Forsling
    4. Murphy
    5. Dahlstrom
    6. Seabrook
    7. Manning
    8. Gustafsson
    9. Davidson

Actually there isn’t much separation between 6 thru 9.

ER – I might quibble with your order of top 6 but not who your top 6 are so it begs the question when Joki comes back what do you do with Gus and Manning?

Unless there’s a trade do you sit them? and remember Gus is currently on PP1

And if you’re thinking of trading Gus by TDL maybe you have to keep playing him to maximize value in which case Joki or Dahlstrom goes to RKF until he’s traded

I also wouldn’t mind trying Gus on the wing if we have 6 better D men and I think we do once Joki is back

Viraldi ruled out of wjc injured, so Entwistle is in n9 more cuts.

I just saw that Nordgren got injured in his last Liiga game – got hit in the head and played only 3 minutes. He didn’t travel with the team to N.A. but it left open the possibility he could join the team depending how his noggin is doing.

Good for Jokiharju. Gets to play for his country.
Its an interesting point by @Ian does joker come back to the hawks to save a year ahead of free agency.
I’m looking forward to seeing the next handful of games to see how Forsling, Dahlstrom, Murphy and
Gustafsson look out there. Just for a glimmer of hope.

does saving a year keep Joker away from the Seattle draft??? If so then it’s an easy choice

No Reclliner he would have had to go back to Portland, not Rockford slide year counts there, before the 10 game mark for that to happen.
