Blackhawks NCAA Prospect Updates

It’s been some time since we checked in with the Blackhawks’ long list of prospects playing college hockey in the US, and there continue to be impressive numbers from a handful of Chicago picks.

Nick Schmaltz performed very well on behalf of the United States at last week’s World Junior Championships, where he helped the team win the bronze. But there are others in the group that have had a strong season to date.

Here’s a look around the college ranks.

Fredrik Olofsson, F – Nebraska-Omaha
2014 NHL Draft – 4th round (98th overall)
18 games, 6 goals, 7 assists, 13 points, 2 game-winning goals, 12 blocked shots

John Hayden, F – Yale
2013 NHL Draft – 3rd round (74th overall)
15 games, 9 goals, 3 assists, 12 points

Luke Johnson, F – North Dakota
2013 NHL Draft – 5th round (134th overall)
22 games, 4 goals, 5 assists, 9 points

    An impressive list if only by quantity-
    Will one of these American born players in College make and contribute to the Hawks? Name the last-(Kane, Saad played in the O, and Keith-Toews are Canadian) one that did?
    That’s why I wish they would invest more in the CHL
