Blackhawks Place Brett Connolly On Waivers

The Blackhawks will take on the Red Wings on Wednesday evening, but earlier in the day they made a roster decision.

Veteran forward Brett Connolly has been placed on waivers. Connolly, 29, has one more season left on his contract with a $3.5 million cap hit after the 2021-22 season.

Originally the sixth overall pick in the 2010 NHL Draft, Connolly has one goal and one assist in 14 games with the Blackhawks after he was acquired from the Florida Panthers with Henrik Borgstrom and Riley Stillman last year.

My guess he ends up back in Rfd., couldn’t be sent down without clearing first.

Agree Ian – no one’s gonna take a flyer on him at that price

I watched this guy play with the Caps quite a bit, and he was a solid RW! He could score a bit, worked hard in the corners, decent skills, great teammate. Man, he lost it quickly! I just hope he doesn’t push Teply down to the 2nd line in Rockford. No one is picking up that contract! But, I think this move is a signal that another move is coming soon because we do save over $1M if he’s in Rockford.

They have 13 fwds on active list now with Dach and Strome back, Khaira could be activated anytime so maybe just making room for everybody for now.

I WANT to think we are clearing some $$ for an upcoming trade, but I think Ian is more likely correct.

Time will tell. I expect to be disappointed.

Danny updating the GM situation – they’ll start interviewing next week and hire before TDL as I suggested they should

Says KD is a candidate- didn’t say who else

Hope it’s not just a going through the motions exercise but they legitimately hire the best candidate

Also said Gm would be highest on ice executive, no vp of player ops, Gm report to Danny Wirtz instead. Said KD will have a major role, so could see him take Al MacIsaacs spot and new Gm hired too.

Having the “new” GM reporting to Danny is like the Bears GM reporting to George, “uhhh sounds good to me”!!
