Blackhawks Place Calvin de Haan In COVID Protocol

Before Monday, the Blackhawks were one of only nine teams in the NHL without a player in COVID protocol.

That is no longer the case.

Veteran defenseman Calvin de Haan, who has missed the last two games because of a non-COVID related illness, was placed in the protocol on Monday afternoon.

The Blackhawks — without de Haan — face the Nashville Predators over the weekend. The Preds have since been put on hold because of their COVID issues. Chicago was supposed to host Dallas on Thursday night. We’ll see if that game still happens as scheduled as 43 games (thus far) have been postponed by the NHL already.

Steve Yzerman asked “why are players without symptoms being tested? That makes me think that we are getting a bunch of false positives, which means we are being played as far as Omicron.

Not going to olympique will help to complete the schedule with those missing match.
Just continue the way it is and see iff they can manage the situation.
    Go Hawks Go

That`s a great theory Billy or should i say Dr. Dollar ? However ….all players are tested because… …..some don`t show symptoms …that`s right Billy , some people look and feel pretty normal but ….they spread the F-c-ing thing .

The PCR testing for the virus has been proven to be less than reliable and yet it is still being used….. can’t fix stupid people.

Hopefully there aren’t others on the Hawks that will have to go into protocol – I’m guessing Borgstrom if he was going to go to protocol would have by now

Asymptomatic is not the same as false positive. A person can be infected with Covid and not have symptoms, but still be contagious and pass it to someone who will have symptoms.

Asymptomatic literally means “without symptoms.” It does not mean, not infected, or not contagious.

This isn’t complicated. A player who doesn’t have symptoms can infect those around him without knowing it. Testing everyone, regularly, identifies those who can essentially be “typhoid mary” (google it) and isolate them from the rest to stop an outbreak from happening.
