Queen’s pawn to E4. Basic first move of strategic plan or just a move?

Lots of guys on waivers today. Chris Stewart from Minnesota. Oduya and Burrows from Ottawa.

    Scrap heap.

Hopefully Wingels nets us a 4th round draft pick and Franson perhaps a 5th or 6th rounder but that might not be until tomorrow afternoon when GMs strike out elsewhere and need a consolation prize.

It’s not Bouma’s fault that the Hawks are where they are at, but I doubt anyone is surprised about this.

Not a surprise. But the man did his job game in and out.
Hopefully he gets claimed. Or provides some good things for Rockford.

He has heart and character. Things not exactly overflowing in that locker room.

I remember 3 years ago when we were hoping for Stan to acquire someone to enhance our chances at winning the Cup. There were a bunch of names swirling around the rumor mill and I’d check every few hours for any news. And then the trade came across the blogs that the Hawks had acquired Antoine Vermette and I was very excited. Vermette wasn’t at the top of most Hawks fans lists but he was at the top of mine. I liked him when he played for Ottawa and then Columbus and I was disappointed when Arizona acquired him in 2012 and he was a big reason why Arizona beat the Hawks in the 2012 playoffs. So I was ecstatic when Stan got him at the 2015 TDL. He struggled to find his niche in the regular season but eventually came through in the playoffs and helped the Hawks win the Cup in 2015.

But now, the feeling is quite a bit different. I’m still checking the blogs every few hours but that feeling of anticipation that something good is going to happen and help the Hawks in the Cup is not there. It’s been replaced with more of a curiosity than an anticipation. That, and the hope that Stan doesn’t trade one of the young up and coming players for some hope and a wish player that may or may not amount to anything better than what we already have.

Just a totally different dynamic this year. It’s just weird after so many years of being a legitimate contender.

Can’t complain about Bouma’s effort and intensity in any way. Not a piece going forward. Some moves are starting to happen. Saw where Brandon Bollig (!!!!) is now the property of Nashville. Nash to Boston. Plekanec out of Montreal.

First off “Vermette was not on top of many Hawks fans list”
He was on top of EVERY Hawks fans list, as was Ladd when the Hawks Re-aquired Ladd.
Bouma will probably clear waivers, then dealt. If he was dealt to, or if that team claimed him on waivers, and the new team wanted him to report to their AHL team, then he would be subject to waivers.

Optimistic view Ron – I don’t think anyone will trade for him once he clears waivers.

I do hope he gets dealt however so the Hawks get another draft pick but I seriously doubt that will happen.

Speaking of Vermette, want to re-live something that will give you goosebumps? With the Hawks down 2 games to 1 against Anaheim, If the Hawks didn’t win this one, there would be no third cup. Vermette’s 2OT goal has to rank at the top of clutch goals in Blackhawk’s history:

What a job Sharp did to set up the winner, which is now a sad reminder that time eventually takes its toll on everyone. And in a matter of weeks, the lease expired on the Vermette rental.

Good memory Original, thx. Maybe Bouma and Franson packaged together could bring 4th or 5th rounder or something.

There were a couple 3-point games today involving the teams the Hawks will be jockeying with for draft position – DET/NYR, and EDM/ANA and Vancouver is up 1-0 and the end of 2 periods (Go Nucks). So a good night for Hawks draft fortunes.

The Hawks are tied for 8th with Detroit and Florida with 62 points, but the Hawks have played 63 games, Detroit 62 games and Florida only 59 games. Beneath the Hawks in the standings and still within striking distance is the Rangers with 60 points, Edmonton 56 points, Montreal 55 points and Vancouver 53 points, but EDM/MON/VAN have all played 2 fewer games.

So, lots of numbers with still lots of games to play but I like the Hawks chances to get into that 5/6/7 spot, especially if Crawford doesn’t come back to play this season.

I was there for the 2OT win. They quit serving in the 3rd. Most exciting game I’ve ever been too. So many chances on both sides and watching that goal go in is still one of my favorite memories at the UC. We’ve been blessed with amazing teams and runs. 10 years. Give it a year or two and we’ll be back in the playoffs. Decent contender in 3-4

Hoping Bowman clears cap space and I hope Keith will be 1st along with Hartman Sharpe and. Saad. Or Anisimov. That would be ideal If SB could dump all of them. For youth movement and piks Only way to go ahead and get away from this fiasco joke of a team ! Throw the towel in those boys had enough ! That would make this s season a success! Cap Space

SB- has been terrible… waiting til last minutes to dump guys in last couple years…

And now- he is terrible at “estimating ” value of his so called assets as a 1st time seller….

As I suggested in an earlier post… Bouma has near Zero value… Franson – slightly above that- sad that these guys were getting PT over Hino/Kampf/Gus and Dahlstrom… Even worse- Franson was Hawks MOST effective PP D-guy this year- and Franson is SLOWER thans Seabs!!!

SB- may be able to get Wingels/Pick… that is about it… SB- “Likes his Core- and they are not going anywhere”… It’s Code for – ” I can’t move them- without giving away more assets/or eating $$$!”

According to Mark Lazerus of the Sun-Times, the Blue Jackets offered a third-round pick to the Chicago Blackhawks to reacquire center Artem Anisimov

Trade deadline is off and running boys and girls!

I actually spit coffee reading Slammer’s comment. Hilarious.

Hartman was going to be our next Shaw,.,.,. we do need a player like that for sure so,.,.,i hope we don`t give up on him .
Hartmans one consistent through his career has been getting stupid penalties ,.,., they knew that when we drafted him .
