Blackhawks Place Trevor van Riemsdyk on LTIR

According to the roster on the Blackhawks’ website, rookie defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk has been placed on Long Term Injured Reserve. The designation means van Riemsdyk will miss at least 10 games and 24 days, but it appears he’ll be out longer than that.

van Riemsdyk was injured in the first period of Sunday night’s win over Dallas at the United Center. The Hawks are expected to recall a defenseman to fill van Riemsdyk’s roster spot either Tuesday or Wednesday, with Klas Dahlbeck and Kyle Cumiskey reportedly being the front runners for the NHL roster.
