Blackhawks Prospects Earn Postseason College Honors

College hockey seasons are coming to a close, and conferences are starting to hand out postseason hardware. So far, three Blackhawks prospects have earned well-deserved all-conference honors.

  • Ivy League

Yale captain forward John Hayden was one of two unanimous First Team All-Ivy League selections.

  • NCHC

Forward Anthony Louis of Miami (Ohio) was named First Team All-NCHC.

Defenseman Luc Snuggerud of Omaha was named Second Team All-NCHC.

Somehow, Western Michigan forward Matt Iacopelli didn’t even receive an honorable mention while ranking second in the conference with 20 goals.

Hawks will likely sign Hayden, Louis, Sikura, Snuggerud when their college seasons are finished. Iocopelli is a possibility but Western Michigan is a very big strong team, built for a long run, likely to the Frozen Four and perhaps the Championship fame.

Also, Dennis Gilbert from Notre Dame has had a tremendous season playing on the top pair for the Irish on defense. I am biased because I grew up with his father in Western New York but truthfully he has been asked to play the role of shutdown defenseman and has “accepted and executed”. His plays minus is very very good and he is piling up the assists from the back end. I think he goes back to ND for his junior year unless Bowman and company move out some bodies at Rockford to make way for both Snuggerud and Gilbert.
