Blackhawks Re-Sign Mac Carruth

On Tuesday, the Blackhawks announced the team has agreed to a one-year deal with restricted free agent netminder Mac Carruth.

Carruth, 24, was originally selected in the 7th round (191st overall) of the 2010 NHL Draft by the Blackhawks.

He started the 2015-16 season with the Indy Fuel of the ECHL, posting a .918 save percentage and a 2.43 goals against average. Carruth was 12-10-3 in 25 games with Indy. In Rockford, Carruth went 6-5-2 with two shutouts. He registered a 2.30 GAA and .926 save percentage with the IceHogs.

Chicago signed free agent Lars Johansson from Sweden this offseason to fill the organization’s depth chart. Michael Leighton, who was the primary starter in Rockford last season, is an unrestricted free agent. Drew MacIntyre, who was acquired from Carolina during the season, has already left for Europe.

My limited memory of Caruth was him looking awful playing for the WinterHawks against a Drouin led Halafax team. My other other memory was him playing a 3rd period against Toronto and looking bad too.

SSHM – You might be thinking of Kent Simpson who let in the first shot in his debut against da Leaf.

Probably means the end of the mark visentin experiment. Feel bad for the kid as he had ankle surgery again.
