Blackhawks Recall Carter Hutton

With Ray Emery still sick, the Hawks have recalled Carter Hutton from Rockford for tonight’s game in Dallas. Corey Crawford will still get the start.

Hutton, 26, is 17-9-3 with two shutouts in Rockford this season. He boasts a .915 save percentage and 2.50 goals against average in 32 games.

Look for Salak to sulk again and head back to Europe next Fall. And if he does…see ya!

If there a reason why Hutton is getting called up instead of Salak? I’ve been excited to see what the kid is made of since he showed up to training camp. before this seasons mental breakdown of Crawford (and Emery answering the call) I was excited for a Crow/Salak combo. This mean that the organization is more confident in Hutton now? If it is , best of luck Carter!

I’m guessing that Carter Hutton has been consistent all year. He also probably never whined or bitched like Salak did when he got sent down to Rockford.

Logan, never heard about Salak crying… can you elaborate on that, what he said and to who? I think he was injured for a little while in Rockford?

When he was sent down back in October, he apparently sulked instead of working hard to await his call. He then struggled while playing down there. I’m guessing that Carter Hutton has outplayed him and acted more professionally.
    Here’s SALAK’s stats:

    GAA: 2.77 Record: 4-9-0 SV%: .901

    Hutton beats him everywhere.

Just throwing this out there, while we’re tossing Salak under the bus because of his numbers…

His wife had a their first child and was in Chicago just after the regular season started, so he was driving back and forth A LOT. As a parent, dealing w/ #1 isn’t easy, and driving back & forth between Rockford & Chicago isn’t exactly the near-Western burbs. Then he was injured and missed a lot of time, which opened the door for Hutton, who (to his credit) has really taken off w/ the opportunity. Could Salak have been better early on? Absolutely. & kudos to Hutton for making the most of his chance.

Tab, its just me tossing him under the bus. I guess it feels too similar to whatshisface that went back to Russia after pouting away in Rockford last year.

I liked Salak in camp… and Hutton’s stats are good, Salak’s W-L isn’t good but his GA is ok considering the D in Rockford is pretty weak IMO.
