Blackhawks Recall Jeremy Morin

The Blackhawks recalled forward Jeremy Morin from Rockford on Saturday.

Jeremy Morin

Morin, who will turn 22 on April 16,  takes the roster spot of Marian Hossa after he put on IR on Friday. Morin has been on fire lately with the IceHogs, and comes back to Chicago after posting 27 goals and 22 assists in 59 games.

Also, coach Joel Quenneville said Saturday that Corey Crawford will start in Detroit on Sunday, and that Viktor Stalberg could play after taking a puck to the face last night against the Ducks.

Tab, Does this mean Hossa is out for at least another week?

I hope Morin adds some offensive energy as has been his billing when he was acquired. Did they send Hayes down??

I also hope that the 4th line is Carcillo/Krugs/Bolig to add some toughness and keep the Wings honest. I really like Mayers but he is to slow for many NHL teams……..

This is a good start…what you will see in Morin is a much more physical player than Hayes…the biggest thing for Jeremy to focus on is his positional play without the puck, if he stays focused, he will be fine…he has great hands, and a knack for getting to the net. I think this is the beginning of Morin playing as a regular with the Blackhawks. Some people have concerns over his speed, but I think he is going to make a very good pro…maybe not as good as Saad, but close.

Mike…both Hayes and Morin need to be playing…we should be done with Mayers and Carcillo.

@ Mike, I believe Hossa was put on IR retroactive to 3/19. Therefore the minimum time for IR is already met (either 7 or 10 days – I don’t recall which one it is), so Hossa can be activated anytime he is ready to play. The moving of Hossa to IR was probably just a procedural move to free a roster spot to recall Morin. If they didn’t put Hossa on IR, they would have had to send someone down to Rockford. If Hossa is ready to play before the TDL, then they will need to make a move to free up one of the 23 roster spots for Hossa. If he is not ready to play Monday against the Preds, then he can be activated on Thursday without having to make any other roster moves because teams can have more than 23 players on the active roster after the TDL which is Wednesday.

Better to rest 10 & 81 for a week longer, even if there ready before. Theyll play less games 10 instead of 14 before playoffs, which will mean theyll have enough to time/games to get into game shape/timing…, have more in the tank/be fresher/100%, etc. for playoffs. Its not a good idea anyways to have them play this wk against big-no brain teams nashville and stlouis are next 4 games. They both should be ready and fresh/stored full of energy & be back playing next Tuesday… Plus you said the 23-man roster thing.

Morin could come in and do what Shawzer did last yr.

Sounds like an audition to me…we will see if he is still on the roster by the end of next week.

Hey mike, Why would you split up Bickel/ Krugs/ Stalberg? but then again if they are mixing up the lines i guess that might be kind of close to something they would do. cept i would say move krugs up not down.
